Food For Thought

There are many foods that I have been able to tolerate well and some that i haven't

I have made a list that shows the variations. You may be able to eat similarly, or not, this is the challenge of the band, each could be different. You need to learn to listen to your body, and keep trying variations to see what works for you.

Before my band repair from it's slippage I was able to eat most foods, but when it was fixed,  the restriction is now greater with even less in the band.  Before I could have 3.5 cc now I have 1.5 cc and it is tighter and I eat far less and still now 4 years after banding, I get the golfball feeling in my throat from lots of varieties of foods.

Here is a list I found that gives some ideas and suggestions

Some foods that may cause some problems ( some bad Problems )
Raisins                                   eat slowly one at a time
Breads                                   Any bread, when crushed in the hand, leaves a dough ball 
Chicken                                  Especially white meat. Must be very moist
Pasta/Rice                              Some have reported problems 
Skin of Tomato's                      Eat the fruit/veg, not the skin 
Potato's in their skin                 Eat the fruit/veg, not the skin 
Grapes/Apples Etc                       Eat the fruit/veg, not the skin 
Tofu (frankfurts made of Tofu      Extremely rubbery and hard to chew well     
Frankfurts                                  Extremely rubbery and hard to chew well 
Hot Dogs                                   Extremely rubbery and hard to chew well 
 
 
Liquid foods
Jell-O                                       
Flavours All    Add a little extra fluid to make it not set fully
Popsicles                                   
Sugar/Water/Etc     Enjoy anytime of the day
Soup                                         
All soups THIN   If thick blend and add liquid to thin then Heat
Water                                       
Room temp     Drink minimum of 64 oz per day
Apple Juice                               
No Sugar added       Meal times
Yogurt,
Drinkable or no lumps anytime of day
Icecream                                   
Any Flavour   Once daily at meal time as a treat for first 3 weeks
 
Puree Phase
Apple Sauce
Cream Of Wheat  
 warm, goes down smooth and one of my favorite foods!
Omelet with Filling  
 Egg Beaters, low-fat cottage cheese, pam  
Spray non-stick pan with pam, pour in Egg Beaters, cover and cook on medium until eggs are set, spoon cottage cheese 
down center, fold over with spatula to make omelet. Note: You will NOT be    able to eat this much after your first fill! 
Refried Beans                                       
 Beans + V8 Juice   Add Beans + V8 into blender - Blend
Pudding milk, etc.Enjoy a variety of soft puddings
Pile Driver        Prune Juice and Metamucil   Mix in blender before drinking
