Tummy Tuck

It's Wednesday Morning May 14th.  Had Pre Op shower at home using soap provided by Hospital.

Left Home at 6.30 am to get to Hospital at 7 am required time to be there.

Checked in at pre-op desk and had hospital bracelet put on my wrist and the had basic check up's and all the questions asked again.

Had my pre Op weight taken and was 238 pounds on their scale - not very accurate as they stop at 200 pounds so they asked me to stand on 2 scales at the same time. I was very upset about this as I know when I left home I was 228 pounds.

OK let them have their way I was now asked to go wait in the waiting area till I get called up again to get changed for the Op.

9.15 am I was called to change and was wheeled off to the theatre at 10.am.

I waited in the anesthetic room for 40 minutes getting drips and everything connected before the op.

The Op was started at 11 am and finished at 2,30 pm all went well no problems,

Due to scars from my band and port repairs they decided to avoid complications with blood supply to the skin near them and do a half or medium Tummy Tuck where they cut only a few inches up above my Belly button rather than all the way up between the fat and muscles to my rib cage.

OK so I didn't get the whole lot done but hell I got most of it done and look great. I was wheeled into my shared ward in the hospital and had a saline drip and a PSA ( personal administered analgesic ) pump hooked to me.

I had a blood transfusion  while I was operated on due to blood loss from the operation, it was Ok with me. Pain - well,  that first afternoon used that pump to give 5,x 1 mg shots of morphine to myself,  but all in all, pain out of 10 was about a 2.

Most of the time I used it when without thinking I tried to roll over. It  stopped me from doing that. Causing more discomfort than pain were the 3 drains I had,  2 on my left side and 1 on the right side.

I had to sleep on my back with my legs bent for 5 nights while I had those drains in. The wound was healing well and have my old Belly button still just in a new place, LOL and it is itchy which is good they say that is a sign it is healing well. the big wound goes from hip bone to hip bone and is also healing well, the stitches stay in for 10 days

Go to get them out Friday 23rd

My tummy still has some swelling and I have been told that could last 1 week to several months, I have my tummy pressure bandage on now and it is to be used everyday for 6 weeks to help the tummy recover.

I had the drains removed at 7.20 am on Monday and was released from the hospital at 8.30 am, drive home went well no real problems with the ride at all like I had with my band repair and banding.

All in all I would say the whole thing went very well and would say to those wondering about having it done -- if you have that big roll of loose skin get it done you will love this new phase in your transformation, I know I would do it all over again if I had to.
